PH / ORP Sensor

A pH/ORP sensor is an electrochemical device used to measure the chemical properties of liquids, mainly in water quality monitoring, industrial processes, and laboratory analysis.

pH (Potential of Hydrogen):
Indicates how acidic or alkaline a solution is on a scale of 0 to 14.

• 7 = neutral (pure water)
• < 7 = acidic
• 7 = alkaline

ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential):
Measures the ability of a solution to either gain or lose electrons, expressed in millivolts (mV).
It indicates how “oxidizing” or “reducing” a liquid is. 

A typical pH/ORP sensor consists of:

• Glass electrode (for pH) that responds to hydrogen ion activity in the liquid
• Reference electrode that provides a stable comparison signal
• ORP electrode (usually platinum or gold) that detects electron transfer potential
• The sensor generates a small electrical voltage, which is converted by a transmitter or controller into readable pH or ORP values.
