Product Details
Rugged. High Temperature Ready. Thermocouples are suited for high-temperature applications in harsh environments with quick response time.
Product Description
RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) and Thermocouple are two widely used temperature sensing devices in industrial and scientific applications for measuring temperature accurately under different operating conditions.
RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector)
An RTD is a temperature sensor that works on the principle that the electrical resistance of certain metals (commonly platinum) increases in a predictable manner with temperature. The most common type is the platinum RTD (Pt100 or Pt1000). RTDs are known for their high accuracy, stability, and repeatability, making them ideal for precision temperature measurement in industries such as pharmaceuticals, food processing, and chemical plants.
Thermocouple
A thermocouple is a temperature sensor made by joining two dissimilar metals at one end. When there is a temperature difference between the joined end (measuring junction) and the other ends (reference junction), a small voltage is generated based on the Seebeck effect. This voltage is used to determine temperature. Thermocouples are widely used due to their wide temperature range, ruggedness, and fast response, especially in furnaces, kilns, engines, and high-temperature industrial processes.
